Reports To: Vice President, Quantitative Analytics

Direct Reports: No Functional Unit: Asset Management & Operations

THE CHALLENGE

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Associate to join our Commercial Analytics team. This role will focus on designing, developing, and optimizing analytical tools, software solutions and dashboards that support commercial decision-making. The ideal candidate will have strong programming skills and a zeal to apply those skills for data analytics.

The Associate will work closely with various internal stakeholders across the organization to understand business needs and prepare technical solutions per direction. Reports to Vice President, Quantitative Analytics.

  • Develop and maintain analytical tools and reports to support market analysis, forecasting, and commercial strategy using Microsoft.NET technologies; C#.Net, VB.Net etc.
  • Build and optimize data pipelines for integrating and analyzing large datasets from diverse sources using applicable methods like web service calls or XML SOAP calls etc.
  • Build Power BI dashboards for the team that help in day-to-day market and performance overview and decision-making.
  • Work to automate/write Excel VBA Macros wherever needed to automate customized data integration.
  • Write and Call SQL Server stored procedures from Microsoft.NET code.
  • Collaborate with IT to maintain a robust data infrastructure

THE PROFILE TO SUCCEED

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, Engineering or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in software development, data analytics, or a similar role.
  • Willingness to be coached and mentored by experienced professionals.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C#.Net, VB.Net
  • Proficiency in Power BI dashboards and report generation using Data Modeling, DAX, Power Query, Report Creation using varied data sources and specifically SQL Server, APIs etc.
  • Basic understanding of windows server operations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Excel Macros and Excel VBA.
  • Ability to think critically, analyze complex problems with no clear solutions
  • Maintain the highest standards of conduct and integrity in all dealings inside and outside the organization.
  • Ability to travel if needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of financial modeling and risk analysis in the energy sector as they apply to an Independent Power Producer (IPP).
  • Understanding of regulatory and market structures in the power industry like ISO’s and Public Utility Commissions (PUCs).
  • Basic understanding of fundamental power generation concepts and operations e.g. Tolls, HRCOs (Heat Rate Call Options) and Economic Dispatch.
  • Familiarity with Machine Learning Concepts.
